Frequently Asked Questions

Everything procurement and engineering teams ask before placing an order.

How do I choose the right anti-slip grating for my application?
Start with the environment and slope: serrated channel planks shed water and debris on stairs and inclines, while diamond-button surfaces give multi-directional grip on flat platforms. Then size the panel to your load and span. Send us the application details and our engineers recommend pattern, thickness and open area.
What is the difference between EXC2 and EXC3 execution classes?
EN 1090 execution classes set the level of welding control, inspection and traceability. EXC2 covers most general structural steel; EXC3 applies to structures with higher consequence of failure, requiring more NDT, tighter tolerances and fuller documentation. We confirm the class with you before fabrication.
Which coating system should I specify for a corrosive environment?
Match the coating to the ISO 12944 corrosivity category. For coastal or chemical C5-M conditions we typically advise hot-dip galvanizing plus a duplex powder or epoxy coat, or stainless steel. For sheltered indoor C2–C3 use, galvanizing or powder coat alone is usually enough.
How do I prepare drawings and files for an accurate quotation?
Provide material grade, quantity, dimensions with tolerances, surface treatment and any inspection or certificate requirements. STEP, DXF, DWG or PDF files are ideal; a clear sketch with key dimensions also works and our team can develop the manufacturing drawing.
What material traceability documents should I request?
For load-bearing or regulated work, request EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates with heat-number traceability. These link each part back to a tested heat of steel and are usually required for EXC3 structures, pressure work and third-party inspected orders.
When is NDT required, and which method applies?
NDT requirement follows weld class and project specification. UT and RT check internal weld soundness on full-penetration joints; MT and PT find surface and near-surface defects. We agree the method, extent and acceptance criteria before welding starts.
How do I avoid fit-up problems when assembling fabricated parts overseas?
Specify datum references and match-marking, request trial assembly for complex structures, and confirm field-joint and bolt-hole tolerances up front. Match-marked sections and a trial fit-up before shipment prevent most on-site alignment issues.
What lead time should I plan for a fabricated or machined project?
Simple fabrications and machined parts ship in 1–3 weeks; complex structural assemblies, large machined weldments or coated and inspected work typically need 4–8 weeks. Build in time for drawing approval and any third-party inspection.
What information makes a request for quotation complete?
Drawings or a clear description, material grade, quantity, surface treatment, tolerance requirements, destination country and any inspection or certificate needs. Complete information up front avoids back-and-forth and gives an accurate price and lead time.
